Apple Chips make a very light and healthy snack. And making it will be duck soup! I am still wondering why I hadn’t shared this here earlier. So, yesterday when I bought loads and loads of apples, I knew I’m baking apple chips and it shall be my next post.
Though the recipe looks like a breeze, you must have a good 2 hours in hand when you want to bake these chips. The process is to slowly dehydrate the apple slices at the lowest temperature of your oven. This will eventually make the chips crunchy.
Before I get to the recipe, I want to tell you that you can make slight variations here. Like, you can soak the apple slices in sugar syrup instead of sprinkling sugar. Again, you can just bake the apple slices without any seasoning at all. Some people also use a little lemon juice but I have never tried that. Maybe next time, I will. And the best one was – once I ran out of cinnamon powder and therefore used chaat masala. Nonetheless, the chips turned out amazing !
- Apples, 2 large sized
- Cinnamon powder, 2 tbsp.
- Confectioners or powdered sugar, 4 tbsp.
- Pre-heat your oven to 80°C. Nicely mix the cinnamon powder and powdered sugar together.
- Using a mandoline (or a very sharp knife) thinly slice the apples. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the apple slices on it. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
- Bake in your pre-heated oven for 1.5 to 2* hours. After about an hour or so, flip the apple slices over so that they bake evenly.
